Patience

My dearest Sahana

You are 4 months old now. You are now able to roll over easily. You try to grab objects with your hands. You turn around when some one calls you Sahana. Do you know what Sahana means? It is a Raga in Music. It is Music.

But, it also means Patience. That is what I am going to write to you about. “Patience”

Patience is the ability to endure delays, waiting without becoming angry or upset. I am going to provide you with a quote in Aathichoodi. Aathicoodi was written by Avvaiyar Paati.

“Aruvathu Sinam”

It means, “Anger will die down”. Anger is one of the most difficult to control of human emotions. But anger is also the one that dies down with time. Anger is too much energy in a very short time that cannot be used for any constructive purpose. So, if you are angry, let some time pass, and then you will realize that either your anger was unnecessary or you are not as angry as before. Anger has been the cause of many people’s miseries. So learn to deal with it.

Remember, when you are angry, you do things and say things that will hurt others. How badly can they be hurt?

Thiruvalluvar says
“Theeyinal sutta vadu ullarum arathe
navinal sutta vadu”

This means, if you have a burn because of fire, that will heal over time. But, if you burn someone by your words and actions, it affects their heart. This will never heal.

So, Patience is an important virtue that is required to love and be loved. So, try to control your anger and emotions. Life is not as it is today for you. Life will never be a bed of roses. There will be pain, sadness, and disappointments. Though all these, you need to be patient. You need to live up to your name.

With love
Appa
